Dankzij haar ligging in het Sierra Crestellina natuurgebied, is dit huisje een heerlijke plek om te ontsnappen aan de dagelijkse stress. Zoân eigen intieme paradijsje, dicht bij de natuur en gelegen in een verrukkelijk landschap zult u elders niet snel vinden. Maar wilt u desondanks toch een dagje naar het strand of een balletje slaan op een van de vele golfbanen hier dan is dat geen probleem; alle voorzieningen die de kust biedt liggen op een korte autorit afstand.
In 1989 kreeg de Sierra Crestellina (âCrested Rangeâ) officieel de staus âBeschermd Natuurgebiedâ. (Paraje Natural). De traditionele, 100 jaar oude stenen cottage ligt temidden van al deze schoonheid en behoorde vroeger toe aan een boerenfamilie. Het huisje ligt 3 kilometer ten noorden van het pittoreske, authentiek Andalusische dorp Casares met haar labyrinth van âwitteâ huisjes, smalle straatjes, steegjes en gezellige pleintjes. In Casares vindt u vele winkels, goede restaurants en tapasbars. In noordelijke richting kunt u voor een bezoekje met de auto naar de historische stad Ronda met haar indrukwekkende kloof, of, voor een langer uitstapje, de prachtige legendarische stad Sevilla bezoeken. Buiten deze interessante steden zijn er nog vele andere mogelijkheden voor een dagtrip in de omgeving. Voor de wandelaars onder u zijn er mogelijkheden genoeg met verschillende moeilijkheidsgraden. Er zijn diverse paden die je kunt volgen, maar het pad naar de top van de Sierra Crestellina mag u niet missen â de uitzichten zijn spectaculair en beslaan meerdere continenten: op een heldere dag heeft u indrukwekkende 360º uitzichten over de omliggende dorpen Casares en Gaucin en over de Middellandse Zee tot aan Gibraltar en Marokko. Het gebied is een paradijs voor vogelspotters: er zijn hier veel verschillende soorten vogels te vinden. Vanaf de âLos Buitresâ (âde Gierenâ) hoogzit kunt u gieren en adelaars waarnemen. U zou zelfs een glimp op kunnen vangen van een hert, een steenbok of een wilde beer. De cottage is bereikbaar via een weg die deels is verhard en die deels bestaat uit een in goede staat verkerende zandweg, en ze ligt in een luisterrijk 12-hectare groot landgoed met weelderig begroeide bossen met kurkbomen, geurige dennen, kastanjebomen, wilde bloemenweiden en heerlijke tuinen. Het privé zwembad is voorzien van teakhouten ligstoelen en is omringd door fraaie tuinen en grote cypressen; dit alles past schitterend in het landschap en oogt als een natuurlijke bron waarbij u heerlijk luie zonnige middagen doorbrengt, genietend van strakblauwe luchten waarin zwevende adelaars.Bij de ingang van de cottage is een terras met stenen vloer, een perfecte plek om buiten te eten, ondertussen genietend van de weelderige tuinen. Dit terras is uitgerust met een barbecue, een tafel met stoelen en een parasol voor de schaduw. De vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaar Kate is regelmatig ook zelf op het landgoed woonachtig. Het huisje ligt helemaal privé en u zult Kate dan ook alleen tegenkomen om u te verwelkomen of als u hulp nodig heeft.
Met alle kamers op dezelfde verdieping lijkt deze cottage op een romantisch studio-achtig vakantiehuisje. Binnen is het huis door Kate, de eigenaar, smaakvol ingericht en voorzien van comfortabel meubilair met een rustieke uitstraling, met kastanjehouten balkenplafonds en roze terracotta vloeren. In de open zit/slaapkamer vindt u een king-size tweepersoonsbed en elegant meubilair bestaande uit comfortabele fauteuils, flatscreen televisie, Dvd-speler en muziekinstallatie. De televisie is aangesloten op het Spaanse tv-net. Vier zenders zijn beschikbaar in het Engels, waaronder Discovery en Disney Channel. Elke van oorsprong Engelse film is ondertiteld in het Engels.Een oude gewelfde doorgang links geeft toegang tot een in mooie kleuren ingerichte badkamer met handbeschilderde Andalusische tegels. Rechts is een compacte keuken met een 4-pits gasstel, een oven, koelkast met vriesvak, een broodrooster en een fluitketel. Er is gelegenheid om te wassen en een strijkplank en- ijzer zijn aanwezig. Er ligt een welkomstpakketje voor u klaar en WiFi is gratis.

OptiePeaceful, scenic, restful holiday
The villa is set in a wooded valley with wonderful views across to the Sierra Cresallina. A short walk takes you to a very private swimming pool with fantastic views up to the hills. Good walking and wonderful birdlife. Plenty of migrating birds when we arrived in September bringing eagles, falcons and hawks as well as resident griffon vultures. We planned to travel a lot and never did, preferring to stay put and enjoy the locality with occasional trips to the beautiful nearby town of Casares. The accommodation is rustic but lovely - good shower and small kitchen and you'll sit outdoors much of the time.

Paradise in the Mountains
We spent almost 3 weeks at the idyllic cottage in the mountains above Casares. The location is perfect for ensuring total relaxation with amazing views, great sounds of goats with bells and the company of two lovely dogs, Alfie and Emily. Overhead, eagles glide in the most balletic of movements. Kate, the owner, is very, very helpful from the initial stages of booking and throughout the stay. There are plenty of amazing places to visit around this region, equally great places to walk and on those days off when you want to chill, there is a lovely private pool where you can sit and read or snooze. We have had one of the most relaxing holidays ever and while the short road presented an initial challenge, I had it mastered in no time at all. Casares is a stunning little village. You will find most things you require there but within a short trip to Sabinillas you will find a range of supermarkets. Estepona is close by too. If you seek something a little more expensive, take a look at Sotogrande. We didn't like it but accepted that it would appeal to a certain type of person. Take a look anyways. Coming to this cottage will ensure that you relax. It is a very special place. Enjoy.

The most relaxing holiday ever
I stayed here for almost two weeks with my teenage daughter. This cottage is a rare find - a holiday cottage just for two, in unspoiled, private, peaceful, tranquil surroundings, with spectacular mountain views and its very own private, beautiful, swimming pool. This property has all those things. The cottage is reached by a mountain track, which although is a bit daunting at first, is absolutely no problem. Its position up the mountain is what gives it its views, charm and beauty. This is the kind of place that you do not need to leave, just reading, swimming and being by the pool surrounded by such beautiful nature ensures total relaxation. Nearby is the pretty small town of Casares where a handful of simple restaurants are available for meals. We used the Carrefour in nearby Estepona for grocery shopping, about a 25 minute drive away, it is closed on Sundays though so if you plan to arrive on a Sunday take enough food to get you through the first day. Actually my advice for this cottage is arrive in Spain, go to the grocery store and buy all you for a week, go to the cottage and enjoy! The cottage is simple but decorated in a traditional, pleasing way with all mod cons and excellent WIFI availability for those who need it. The little kitchen is well stocked with utensils etc. for easy cooking. The thick walls of the cottage and a simple fan ensure the cottage stays cool even though temperatures can be high during the day. Kate the English owner was on hand if we needed her and responded to all my queries / requests immediately. She was very kind and helpful, living in the house next door, but did not intrude in our privacy at all. We flew into Malaga and hired a car, then used the toll highway to reach the cottage, the tolls are about 15 euros one way to the cottage but well worth it as the highway is fast and quiet. Just make sure you have euro change available , there are 3 toll booths between the airport and the cottage turn off. We visited Ronda, about an hourâs drive away through spectacular scenery, well worth a visit to this historic beautiful town. We had a truly wonderful holiday, it is the perfect place to unwind and recharge, we will be returning!

A little jewel of a hide-away in the Andalucian mountains!
We spent a week at this wonderful little place away from it all. It's an ideal place for a couple looking for a somewhere to be in peace and at ease. A place with a view down the valley and beyond, with just enough amenities to make you feel comfortable in a rustic, down-to-earth way. And with a wonderful, secluded pool all to yourselves on top of that. For those in fond of hikes in nature, the area has a lot to offer: paths and trails crisscross the nature reserve surrounding the cottage. It's a rural area with sheep and goats roaming the hillsides, and you can be quite certain to be woken up at least one morning by the neighbour's rooster :-) The picturesque white village of Casares is three kms down the road / track from your place, and well worth to explore as well. And if you still long for city life, Marbella and Gibraltar are conveniently close by. The online booking with Kate the owner was totally hassle free and efficient. In short: a stay we utterly enjoyed, and highly recommend to others!
