This high quality cottage is hidden away about 4 kilometres north of Frigiliana, in a forest setting. If you enjoy a stay surrounded by nature then this would be our recommendation. There is a spacious garden with barbecue, a private pool and the inside is decorated with great flair by its owners. For a dip in the ocean, the beaches of Nerja are just a 20 minute drive from here.
When Damian, the owner, contacted us for promotion of his cottage he didn't mention anything about the name of this cottage. Instead, he sent us a couple of pictures which we liked a lot and we agreed to visit the house in the autumn of 2009. That day, he picked us up in the village of Frigilana and accompanied us for a beautiful 10 minute drive through the mountains. The access has some pronounced curves but doesn't give any problems as the track is fully surfaced with concrete. Once there, we were impressed by the delightful location where this cortijo hides: one of the prettiest valleys in the area that borders with Sierra Tejada Natural Park. Although it may seem you are far from the sea here, the beaches of Nerja (9 kms) are only 20 minutes drive away. From the beginning, Damian and his wife had very clear that they wanted to respect the surrounding nature and integrate the house in the ambiance. And they did succeed: the cottage is surrounded by pine trees, aromatic plants and centennial olive trees that are cultivated ecologically. With the enchanted valley as a background, you will find the private pool (9x4m) surrounded by a charming terrace with elegant furniture. The garden and pool area are made with natural stones and wood and surrounded by trees, giving it a very Mediterranean touch. From the living room, French doors open onto the "green tiled terrace" - the perfect spot for enjoying your breakfast and dinner while you dream away with the magnificent views on the landscape. The colourful Moroccan table at the entrance of the house sets the ambiance for relaxation and it is here where the name of the house appears: "Colores en el Viento". Asked for the significance, Damian answers: "if you are able to appreciate the beautiful gifts of nature and enjoy them as a moment of happiness, then you have found the "Colours in the Wind"
The cottage has two floors and has been decorated with excellent taste by the owners and a great eye for detail. The living/dining room with open-plan kitchen is set on the ground floor and comfortably furnished. There is a wood burning stove, satellite TV, DVD and hifi-equipment with CD player. The kitchen is very complete and comes with a vitro-hob, microwave, oven, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The washing machine is placed on the "green tiled terrace". The master bedroom has a double bed and a warm, romantic ambiance. There is a full bathroom with shower-over, WC and wash basin. The second bedroom is a twin and has an ensuite shower room with WC and wash basin. This bedroom is semi-independent and has its own entrance, though sharing the main entrance of the house. Note: A WiFi Internet connection is available (free of charge).

Just a line to say thanks once again for your recommendation. The villa, its location, its equipment and decor were very special. The holiday was a dream, perfect in every way. Puri and Damien (owners) were very lovely hosts and their special touches in the design and decor of the villa were outstanding. There were also welcoming gestures such as wine, chocolates and fresh eggs. How lovely! You set us another interesting driving challenge to reach the villa but we soon got used to it and I began to actually enjoy the drive through the second week. The car hire company were great once we located the courtesy bus and the car was brilliant. They gave us a Mercedes 180 CDI which was perfect for the hills and bends around the villa. This has been our fifth year of booking through Casitas Select and although we have enjoyed every one immensely we were thinking of maybe having a change next year. This holiday at the lovely Colores en el vienta has stopped us in our tracks and maybe next year....drawn again to Andalucia!

FELIZ ENTRADA DEL AÃO NUEVO EN COLORES EN EL VIENTO. ¡CORTIJO CON MUCHO ENCANTO!
He disfrutado con mi familia de una estancia MUY FELIZ EN "Colores en el Viento" un cortijo lleno de encanto y con todas las comodidades para vivir una experiencia en plena Sierra de Almijara y Tejada. El despertar siempre era con el canto de los pajaros dentro de esta finca llena de Olivos, pinos, plantas aromaticas, flores y muchas más que seria muy largo describirlas. Siempre reservo a traves de Ralph de Casitas Select, y la información que recibo siempre es de lo más correcto respecto a la vivienda. A la llegada nos han recibido los propietarios Puri y Damian; la hospitalidad ha sido de lo más gentil y la casa la tenian llena de detalles, lo cual ha hecho aún más agradable nuestra estancia. La casa estaba en perfecto estado; a la limpieza le pondria un 10, al jardin igualmente un 10, y la belleza del lugar otro 10. Nos fuimos con pena, pero pensando en volver algún dÃa a esta JOYA, donde uno puede sentir lo maravillosa que es la vida. Agradecemos a Ralph, Puri y Damian, por todas sus atenciones.

Paradise!
We returned last week and we can't recommend it highly enough. We've stayed in the region a few times now and this was by far the best. The location was tranquil, set in the hills a short drive from the picturesque town of Frigiliana. You can't really walk here from the property so you need a car, and you need to be a confident driver to navigate the paved road down to the property and back up. However having stayed in other properties where the road was equally as challenging, but not paved, we found this one a kind of luxury! I can't rate the property highly enough. It was stylish, comfortable, well equipped, and surpassed our expectations. The kitchen was complete with everything you could need - I mean EVERYTHING. The tranquility offered by the pool side is truly unreal, as well as the picturesque terrace where we took our meals. Stunning. The owners were courteous and polite and even left us homemade olive oil and fresh "home-laid" eggs.

[18/12/2017] The last part of the access road has recently been improved and the bumps have been taken away. Although it's still a mountain road with curves, it's more comfortable now.
