In an idyllic setting, we found this adorable former farmhouse. It's over 100 years old and has been converted with love into a rural cottage, offering a quiet and relaxing stay for its guests. The nearby hamlet of El Acebuchal is a real âaway from it allâ destination where the crowds seem to be a million kilometres away. Yet, the whitewashed village of Frigiliana (6.5 km) is only a 15 minute drive and the beaches of Nerja only 25 minutes.
The hamlet El Acebuchal, only a 5 minute walk (0.5 km), has an interesting history. It sits in the folds of a lovely valley in the Sierras of Tejeda, Almijara, and Alhama Natural Park from where its inhabitants were forced to abandon the hamlet in 1949 by the Franco regime. Then, El Acebuchal remained unoccupied and fell into ruin until 1998 when a descendant of one of the original villagers bought a house there. He encouraged others to help renovate the 32 homes, town hall, chapel, bar, and streets that make up El Acebuchal. The work has been carried out with great care and attention to details to return the village to its former glory. There are no shops here but there is a bar restaurant that serves up local dishes such as game, wild boar, and goat. Access to El Acebuchal is by a winding road through the mountains. The last 1.5 km are not surfaced and have some bumps. The surroundings are ideal for walkersâpine trees at every turn while aromatic thyme and rosemary scent the hillsides. In the whitewashed village of Frigiliana, well worth a visit, you will find a wide selection of shops, tapa bars, and restaurants. If you prefer a day at the beach, then you may also visit Nerja (9 km) where you can enjoy its beautiful beaches and take a dive in the Mediterranean. Small and intimate cove beaches can be found if you head to the east of Nerja. Outside the villa, on a higher level, thereâs your own covered, circular, heated pool. As youâd expect, you also have a barbecue and patio furniture for al fresco meals. Sun beds and a sunshade are available.
The villa itself was converted by the local owners, giving it a traditional Spanish feel with a distinctly rustic finish. Inside, impressive beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, and walls of varying colours create its welcoming ambiance. The entrance to the villa is through a covered terrace area with dining amenities and a sitting area. From here, you access the lounge with open fireplace and TV. The kitchen is designed in a lovely Andalusian style with traditional tiles and modern comfort such as fridge /freezer, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, and kitchen utensils. On the first floor you will find 2 double bedrooms. There is a full bathroom.
Notes:-The prices below are for occupancy by a maximum of 4 persons in 2 bedrooms. Adjacent to the villa you will find an independent apartment with a double bedroom that can be rented upon request.- Mobile phone coverage can be a problem at this location. However, a WiFi internet connection is available (free of charge).- Air conditioning is available in the living room and one double bedroom. Air conditioning is not needed in the other bedrooms.

On holdEs una casa mágica para aislarte y desconectar de verdad
El dÃa que llegamos aluciné con el trayecto para llegar a la casa, porque no son las carreteras asfaltadas a las que algunas estamos acostumbradas, y me asusté un poco...pero Antonio me dijo "tranquila, es porque es el primer dÃa, ya verás que no es para tanto"...y tenÃa razón!!! Cuando superé el sustillo inicial, sin prisa pero sin pausa, nos hicimos unos cuantos viajes a Frigiliana, a Nerja...que te adaptas muy rápido al pavimento de la zona, vamos! La casa es una maravilla, es una casa de campo muy bien restaurada, con un montón de comodidades que no te esperas tener en plena sierra. Tiene unos techos altÃsimos, y, por si hace mucho calor, también hay aire acondicionado. No hay cobertura de teléfono pero sà Wifi, con lo que, por WhatsApp, se puede estar comunicado con la familia y amigos. La entrada de la casa, una especie de antesala de la casa propiamente dicha, está preparada con mosquiteras para que circule el aire y se pueda estar la mar de bien sin que te molesten los bichitos (si no sois de convivir a gusto con los bichitos...yo me llevarÃa un flis flis, que al estar en plena sierra, pues es normal que los haya), se está de fábula!!! También hay una mesa enorme en esta zona para comer, ideal, vamos. Si sois de hacer barbacoas, fuera de la casa está todo preparado para ello, con una mesa con sombra para comer ahà mismo, mejor imposible! La piscina es una verdadera joya! Nuestros peques (4 y 2.5 años) la han disfrutado una barbaridad!!! (Si vais a llevar peques como nosotros, no os olvidéis los manguitos, que cubre!). Fuera de la piscina hay dos tumbonas estupendas donde ponerse al sol...que si vais en pareja, las vais a disfrutar muchÃsimo, nosotros con los peques, no estábamos quietos más de 5 minutos, pero pienso en una escapada en pareja y...es una zona para relajarse (más, si cabe) estupenda. Por último, comentar que a 700 m de la casa está la aldea El Acebuchal (nosotros fuimos unas cuantas veces dando un paseo con los chiquillos, o sea, está muy muy cerca), en la que hay un restaurante donde se come...para chuparse los dedos!!! IncreÃble la gran calidad que tienen en el entorno que están! No te esperas comer tan increÃblemente bien en medio de la sierra! Tienen unos platos de caza, unas ensaladas, unas tartas...pero si cocinan también platos vegetarianos y veganos!!! Un 10!!! En serio, no se puede uno alojar en la maravillosa Villa JardÃn de Antonio y no ir, por lo menos una vez, a comer al bar El Acebuchal. En resumen, Villa JardÃn es la casa perfecta para escapar del mundanal ruido y encontrarse con uno mismo en la inmensidad de la sierra Malagueña! Eskerrik Asko Antonio.

Descanso en medio del monte
Esta casa está en un enclave estupendo, cerca de una pequeña aldea que se ha recuperado hace poco. Realmente se tiene la sensación de estar lejos de todo. Hay muchas rutas de senderismo cercano y lo mejor es no volver a la civilización en toda la estancia. La casa está muy cuidada y limpia, la piscina un gusto, y Antonio, el dueño, es muy amable. Nos proporcionó leña e incluso nos ayudó a encender la chimenea, que calienta toda la casa. Se lo recomiendo a quien se quiera perder unos dÃas, con todas las comodidades.

Nuevamente he vuelto a pasar unas agradables vacaciones en esta casa en compañÃa de un gran amigo. Como siempre, la estancia mejor que nunca, todo genial, sobre todo la piscina con su temperatura cada vez más agradable de estar en ella. Siempre que se pueda volveré a esta casa.

Our favourite house
This cottage is just simply awesome. We keep coming back. The house is renovated with love and respect and the surroundings are beautiful and tranquil. This place is in our hearts and we always wish we could stay for several months. We are never ready to go back home. The village is so special and the bar is a gem. This house is perfect for a romantic vacation.

MagnÃfica casa y precioso entorno
Hola, Estuvimos 3 dÃas alojados en esta magnÃfica casa y la experiencia no puedo ser mejor. Absolutamente recomendable si quieres disfrutar de unos dÃas de relajación y descanso en un entorno privilegiado. La casa es impresionante y dispone de todo lo necesario, sin duda, la mejor parte es la piscina, la cual es una auténtica joya. El dueño, Antonio, es una persona muy amable y atenta. Respecto al entorno, además de la aldea en la que se encuentra situada la casa, es imprescindible visitar el pueblo de Frigiliana y si dispone de tiempo también visitar Nerja. El único punto a tener en cuenta, es que la casa está situada en una aldea a la que se accede por un camino de tierra y algunas piedras, con un turismo normal se llega sin problema. Un saludo.

Amazing!
We stayed for 17 days in this amazing house. Antonio, the owner, has renovated this old house with love and respect. It is rustic and very Spanish but still has all the modern facilities. The house and everything inside it is truly fantastic. We stayed there in February and were a bit concerned about being cold inside the house, but we had no need to worry. The fireplace is ingenious and heats up the house in no time. It is perfect for cozy evenings with red wine, cheese and olives. We only used a small radiator in our bedroom at night. The heated pool is perfect with a constant temperature of 30 degrees. Pure luxury. Antonio has changed the terrace and it is now the perfect place to enjoy the sun after a dip in the pool. The area surrounding the house is beautiful and full of history. It is a place full of tranquillity. You can buy eggs, freshly baked bread, vegetables etc. at Bar el Acebuchal (400 m from the house). There you can also enjoy a great local meal and great service. Supermarkets and restaurants can be in 10-15 minutes. The drive to Frigiliana and Nerja is stunning with fabulous views of the valley and the sea. We have already decided that our next trip to Spain will be spent in this amazing house again. We can't wait. Thanks to Antonio for all his help and kindness.

Un fin de año maravilloso
Nos alojamos cinco adultos y cinco niños para pasar fin de año y no nos podÃamos imaginar que la casa podÃa dar tanto juego. Al tener dos salones, los niños disponÃan de uno con la chimenea para poder jugar y los adultos podÃamos estar en el otro salón acristalado, que también se calentaba rápidamente. Como hizo muy buen tiempo, pudimos disfrutar de estar al aire libre, además de que el entorno es precioso y la piscina climatizada, es todo un acierto. Comenzamos el año en remojo! Absolutamente maravillososo y Antonio, el dueño, es muy, muy amable. Perfecta para repetir.
