Dank seiner Lage im Naturpark der Sierra Crestellina ist dieses Landhaus ein wunderbares Refugium für das Entspannen vom täglichem Stress. Die Landschaft ist umwerfend und ein Aufenthalt in dieser kleinen, der Natur so nahen Paradies wahrlich ein Hochgenuss, den man nicht so leicht findet. Sollten Sie jedoch einen Tag am Strand zubringen oder auf einem der vielen Golfplätze der Gegend spielen wollen, ist es nur eine kurze Autofahrt bis zu allen Annehmlichkeiten, die die Küste zu bieten hat.
Die Sierra Crestellina (âBergkammketteâ) wurde 1989 zu einem Naturschutzgebiet erklärt â zu einem Paraje Natural. Dieses traditionelle, 100 Jahre alte steinerne Landhäuschen befindet sich inmitten dieser Schönheit und war einst das Heim einer Bauernfamilie. Es liegt nördlich von Casares (3 km) - ein sehr malerisches andalusisches Dorf und ein wahres Labyrinth aus weià getünchten Häusern, engen StraÃen, Alleen und kleinen Plätzen. Casares hat viele Geschäfte, gute Restaurants und Tapa-Bars. Von Casares aus Richtung Norden kommt man zur altertümlichen Stadt Ronda und deren eindrucksvollen Schluchten. Wer eine längere Fahrt machen möchte, kann die schöne, legendäre Stadt Sevilla besuchen. Nur eine Tagesreise entfernt gibt es noch viele andere Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Wer das Wandern liebt, findet hier mehrere Möglichkeiten mit unterschiedlichem Schwierigkeitsgrad. Sie sollten aber vor allen Dingen den Wanderpfad zum Kamm der Sierra Crestellina nicht auslassen - der Ausblick ist atemberaubend. Von dort oben hat man, bei klarem Wetter, einen 360º-Blick auf die umliegenden Dörfer Casares und Gaucin sowie über das Mittelmeer bis nach Gibraltar und Marokko. Die Gegend ist zudem ein Paradies für Vogelliebhaber. Hier sieht man viele Vogelarten. Von Los Buitres (("Aasgeier") aus kann man Geier und Adler beobachten. Bisweilen sieht man auch Rehe, Steinböcke oder Wildschweine.Das Haus erreicht man über eine teils betonierte, teils unbefestigte StraÃe (in gutem Zustand). Es liegt in einem wunderschönen fast 5 Hektar groÃen Grundstück mit dichten Korkeichen-, Pinien- und Kastanienwäldern, Wiesen voller Wildblumen und herrlichen Gärten. Der Swimmingpool ist von Sonnenliegen aus Teakholz, hohen Zypressen und hübschen Gärten umgeben. Er fügt sich wunderbar in die Landschaft ein und wirkt wie eine natürliche Quelle. Hier kann man an sonnigen Nachmittagen herrlich faulenzen und den wolkenlosen blauen Himmel genieÃen. Am Eingang zum Haus hat man eine mit Steinplatten ausgelegte Terrasse, der ideale Platz für eine Mahlzeit unter freiem Himmel inmitten des üppig bewachsenen Gartens. Sie verfügt über einen Grill, einen Tisch, Stühle und einen Sonnenschirm.
Die freundliche und hilfsbereite Besitzerin Kate wohnt bisweilen auch auf diesem Anwesen. Das Haus liegt aber sehr sichtgeschützt und sie werden Kate kaum zu Gesicht bekommen, nur um Sie Willkommen zu heiÃen und wenn Sie Hilfe benötigen.
Die Räume liegen alle auf einer Ebene und schaffen eine romantische, Atelier ähnliche Atmosphäre. Das Häuschen hat Kate sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Es bietet Komfort und ein rustikales Ambiente, mit Kastanienbalken geschmückter Decke und Terrakotta-Böden. Das Haus verfügt über ein Kingsize-Doppelbett und geschmackvolle Möbel. Die offene Wohn-Schlaf-Suite ist mit bequemen Sesseln, Flachbild-Fernseher, DVD und Musikanlage ausgestattet. Der Fernseher ist an das spanische TV-System angeschlossen und bietet vier englischsprachige Kanäle wie Discovery und Disney Channel. Jeden Film, der im Original englischsprachig ist, kann man mit englischen Untertiteln anschauen. Eine antike Bogentür linker Hand führt in ein farbenfrohes Badezimmer mit handbemalten andalusischen Kacheln. Rechts befindet sich die Küche, die über einen Gasherd mit vier Kochstellen, Backofen, Kühlschrank mit Gefrierfach, Toaster und Wasserkocher verfügt. Waschmaschine und Bügeleisen mit Bügelbrett können zur Verfügung gestellt werden.Ein Willkommenskorb und kostenloses WLAN erwarten Sie.

The villa is set in a wooded valley with wonderful views across to the Sierra Cresallina. A short walk takes you to a very private swimming pool with fantastic views up to the hills. Good walking and wonderful birdlife. Plenty of migrating birds when we arrived in September bringing eagles, falcons and hawks as well as resident griffon vultures. We planned to travel a lot and never did, preferring to stay put and enjoy the locality with occasional trips to the beautiful nearby town of Casares. The accommodation is rustic but lovely - good shower and small kitchen and you'll sit outdoors much of the time.

Paradise in the Mountains
We spent almost 3 weeks at the idyllic cottage in the mountains above Casares. The location is perfect for ensuring total relaxation with amazing views, great sounds of goats with bells and the company of two lovely dogs, Alfie and Emily. Overhead, eagles glide in the most balletic of movements. Kate, the owner, is very, very helpful from the initial stages of booking and throughout the stay. There are plenty of amazing places to visit around this region, equally great places to walk and on those days off when you want to chill, there is a lovely private pool where you can sit and read or snooze. We have had one of the most relaxing holidays ever and while the short road presented an initial challenge, I had it mastered in no time at all. Casares is a stunning little village. You will find most things you require there but within a short trip to Sabinillas you will find a range of supermarkets. Estepona is close by too. If you seek something a little more expensive, take a look at Sotogrande. We didn't like it but accepted that it would appeal to a certain type of person. Take a look anyways. Coming to this cottage will ensure that you relax. It is a very special place. Enjoy.

The most relaxing holiday ever
I stayed here for almost two weeks with my teenage daughter. This cottage is a rare find - a holiday cottage just for two, in unspoiled, private, peaceful, tranquil surroundings, with spectacular mountain views and its very own private, beautiful, swimming pool. This property has all those things. The cottage is reached by a mountain track, which although is a bit daunting at first, is absolutely no problem. Its position up the mountain is what gives it its views, charm and beauty. This is the kind of place that you do not need to leave, just reading, swimming and being by the pool surrounded by such beautiful nature ensures total relaxation. Nearby is the pretty small town of Casares where a handful of simple restaurants are available for meals. We used the Carrefour in nearby Estepona for grocery shopping, about a 25 minute drive away, it is closed on Sundays though so if you plan to arrive on a Sunday take enough food to get you through the first day. Actually my advice for this cottage is arrive in Spain, go to the grocery store and buy all you for a week, go to the cottage and enjoy! The cottage is simple but decorated in a traditional, pleasing way with all mod cons and excellent WIFI availability for those who need it. The little kitchen is well stocked with utensils etc. for easy cooking. The thick walls of the cottage and a simple fan ensure the cottage stays cool even though temperatures can be high during the day. Kate the English owner was on hand if we needed her and responded to all my queries / requests immediately. She was very kind and helpful, living in the house next door, but did not intrude in our privacy at all. We flew into Malaga and hired a car, then used the toll highway to reach the cottage, the tolls are about 15 euros one way to the cottage but well worth it as the highway is fast and quiet. Just make sure you have euro change available , there are 3 toll booths between the airport and the cottage turn off. We visited Ronda, about an hourâs drive away through spectacular scenery, well worth a visit to this historic beautiful town. We had a truly wonderful holiday, it is the perfect place to unwind and recharge, we will be returning!

A little jewel of a hide-away in the Andalucian mountains!
We spent a week at this wonderful little place away from it all. It's an ideal place for a couple looking for a somewhere to be in peace and at ease. A place with a view down the valley and beyond, with just enough amenities to make you feel comfortable in a rustic, down-to-earth way. And with a wonderful, secluded pool all to yourselves on top of that. For those in fond of hikes in nature, the area has a lot to offer: paths and trails crisscross the nature reserve surrounding the cottage. It's a rural area with sheep and goats roaming the hillsides, and you can be quite certain to be woken up at least one morning by the neighbour's rooster :-) The picturesque white village of Casares is three kms down the road / track from your place, and well worth to explore as well. And if you still long for city life, Marbella and Gibraltar are conveniently close by. The online booking with Kate the owner was totally hassle free and efficient. In short: a stay we utterly enjoyed, and highly recommend to others!
